KOI
2000 is a vital and fast growing Koi society, based in The Netherlands
and Belgium, which aims to promote and professionalise the Koi hobby as
much as possible. Therefore several lectures and workshops are yearly
given. Furthermore the three monthly ‘Koi Wijzer’ magazine offers the
Dutch and Belgian Koi keeper a vast amount of knowledge.
Nowadays the KOI 2000 society, one of the biggest Koi societies of the world, consists of two chapters: KOI 2000 Netherlands and KOI 2000 Belgium.
The two divisions work together closely and share the same vision on
modern Koi keeping. Lifting the Koi hobby to a higher level and
improving animal welfare are the main goals of the society. ‘Knowledge
is the key to understanding Nishikigoi.’ Therefore several lectures and
workshops are yearly given. Furthermore the three monthly ‘Koi Wijzer’
magazine offers the members of KOI 2000 a vast amount of knowledge.
Also, KOI 2000 supports research in Koi fields and maintains close
contacts with worldwide universities and Dutch, Belgian and European
governments.

Keeping
Koi isn’t easy. Therefore members of KOI 2000 receive Koi Wijzer
magazine four times a year. This magazine, which usually consists of
more than 148 pages, can also be found in the Dutch and Belgian book
shops. It sheds its light on new products, member ponds and gardens,
Koi varieties and medical, technical and scientific subjects. Koi
Wijzer is usually the first with the latest Koi news! Not only is the
magazine a wonderful source of reading fun, it also may not be missed
as a valuable work of reference!
The (Dutch) National Koi & Pond Days
The
Netherlands and Belgium are united within The (inter)National Koi &
Pond Days (‘De Nationale Koi- en Vijverdagen’), a worldwide known Koi
and pond manifestion, which is held yearly in Safari Beekse Bergen, a
safari zoo in Hilvarenbeek, near Tilburg and Eindhoven. In this event,
the Koi is a central player. The National Koi & Pond Days consist
of an international exhibition, a high-end Koi show and a pleasant
‘Japan Boulevard’. In 2008 the 6th edition of The National Koi & Pond Days is scheduled for May 23-25.
Lectures and workshops
Since
the very beginning the KOI 2000 society yearly gives many lectures and
workshops. They are given in cooperation with scientists, professional
hobbyists and veterinarians. There are ‘Koi colleges’ about several
subjects. For example: Koi health, water management, anatomy, pond and
filter techniques, nutrition, breeding Koi and recognising Koi
varieties. At the end there are ‘The National Koi Exams’, which are
unique in the Koi world!

In
a changing world wherein multimedia occupy an increasing importance, a
society like KOI 2000 may not drop behind. Therefore we launched the
internet project ‘KOI2000.com’ in spring 2006. KOI2000.com is the main
Koi related news portal in the Dutch language. The interaction with
‘Koi Wijzer’ magazine is clearly visible and forms a solid base for the
future of our multimedia ambitions!
